Page Az. to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon

Glen Canyon

Unusual rock formations

Views from the North Rim - Grand Canyon

North Rim Lodge

We stopped many times on the drive to the North Rim to take pictures. You won’t believe how beautiful the view of the canyon is from the North Rim. We sent the day hiking and taking pictures. We left about 4 and headed to Mt. Carmel Junction Ut To spend the night.

MESA VERDE CO. to PAGE AZ.

Views of the Mesa Verde Ruins

We stopped at the Mesa National Park. Took a ranger-guided tour of the Cliff Dwellers Ruins. We had to fit thru small opening going down. Than we had to climb 5-10 foot ladders. To exit we had a 100-foot vertical climb, It was a great experience.

On our way to Page we ran into a sand storm. We had 70 mile winds blowing sand every were. I could hardly see the road. I had to drive for about 100 miles just hoping I was on the road.
That night we treated our self to a drink and a nice supper.

HISTORIC DURANGO & SILVERTON TRAIN RIDE

What a fun day. We took the train to Silverton-leaving about 8:15 this morning. The trip goes from Durango to Silverton up in the mountains about 50 miles away. The weather was perfect. The train follows the along the river bank. Because it is spring the river was full with lots of water falls adding to it. We could see snow on top of the mountains. We rode in one of the open air cars so we were able to get lots of pictures. After a nice lunch and walking around town we took a bus back. A really nice day

DURANGO ,CO.

AZTEC RUINS
We maded it to Durango,Co about 2,300 miles from home in one piece. We stopped at a Aztec Ruins before we left NM. Than on to Durango filling up with gas before getting our motel. Spent the day checking out Durango and picking up our tickets for our train trip tomorrow. We ended up with a suite with a porch. So we are now sitting on our porch having a glass of wine watching the world go by.

Thank you AAA

Would you believe we broke RULE #10. DO NOT RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WERE.
Every night before stopping we full up with gas. Well the other night in OK the weather was get bad-the sky was dark- the wind was blowing and it was about to rain. The thing on our minds was getting to a motel. Off we went in the morning. Than a bell rang. What was that maybe our phone??? Nope on we went. What is the light showing a gas pump. All of a sudden it dawns on us we didn't get gas. We are in middle of no were on highway#40- next gas station about 50 miles. We made it to with a 1 mile of a gas station before we ran out. As I say thank you AAA. With in an hour we had gas. Next problem car won't start. Nancy K was driving she walks to the AAA fellows and says it won't start-he walk up and says lady you need to turn the key on. We maded it to Farmington,NM.

IT'S FINALLY TIME TO LEAVE

Everything's packed and we're ready to go. I can't believe it - we have everything in the car with room to spare.
I'm really lucky-I have a house sitter so I won't have to worry about my place while I'm gone.
We're looking forward to a great trip and a wonderful summer.
