Whitefish to
       Glacier, National Park

Lake McDonald at Apgar Village

We spent two nights in Whitefish, MT. A beautiful resort town right outside of Glacier, NP. Saturday morning we went Zip lining. There were 6 lines. Two of the lines were so high we had to ride a chair lift up to them. The rest of the lines we hike up to carrying our 15 lb. trolleys ( it’s the thing that goes over the cable.) We were with a great group and had a ball. The best ever.

The next day we headed to the west side of Glacier for 2 days. We stayed inside the park at Apgar Village. The room was right on the river. What a view. We took the free shuttle buses on the Going to the Sun Road from Apgar Village all the way to St. Mary’s on the east side. ( You can get off and on as you please). It made it nice as neither one of us had to drive. The views were breath taken. All we could say is WOW. At the top (Logan Pass) we saw mountain goats and big horn sheep.

We than moved on to Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent Motor Lodge Inn. It’s on the east side of the park. Let’s just say the place was not the Ritz. After checking in we took a great hike to Red Rock Falls. We had planned on another hike but there had been sightings of a grizzle and her cubs on the trail. The hike and the falls were beautiful. Lots of water.

The next day we headed up to Waterman Lakes National Park. It’s the Canadian side of Glacier NP. The Prince of Wales Hotel sits on a hill overlooking Waterman Lake. The hotel has huge pictures windows that frame the seven-mile-long string of mountains ringing the lake. What a beautiful setting.

Than on to Glacier Park Lodge “The Big Tree Lodge” as the Blackfeet knew it. It amazes visitors with a lobby lined with gigantic fir trees. The lodge is located in East Glacier. The grounds around the hotel were wonderful- flowers everywhere. I think it was the prettiest lodge in the park.

We are now heading to Mt. Rushmore and Custer Sate Park after 10 wonderful days of sightseeing in the Northwest…….

Pictures later.
